No. We charge a small fee for a trial class. You can pay directly via iDEAL when signing up.
I booked a trial class but need to cancel. What should I do?+
If you are unable to attend, you do not need to cancel. Your reserved spot will remain in place. However, no refunds will be issued. You can sign up again for a trial class at a later time (a new payment will then be required).
Can I get a short-term membership for just a few sessions?+
No. VBSK Albert Cuyp is an association and works with memberships (annual term). Exceptions may only be considered in special cases. For such requests, please email ledenadministratie@vbsk.nl.
Preparation
What should I bring to a boxing training session?+
Wear comfortable sportswear and bring the following items:
Sportswear
Indoor sports shoes
Towel
Water bottle
Mouthguard
Hand wraps
Boxing gloves
For a trial class, hand wraps and boxing gloves can be borrowed during the training if needed.
Training
Am I allowed to wear jewelry during training?+
No. Boxing is a physical sport with a lot of movement and contact. Jewelry and other objects can cause injury to yourself or others. Please do not wear the following during training:
Rings
Earrings or ear studs
Piercings
Other objects on or in the body that could cause injury
Can I change clothes at the boxing gym?+
Yes. There are separate changing rooms for men and women. After training, you are welcome to use the showers. Please leave the area clean and tidy after use.
Can I join if I only speak English?+
Yes. Please let the trainer know before the class starts. We will do our best to adapt the explanations, and other boxers are often happy to help with translation.
Youth & competition boxing
From what age can I start boxing?+
You can start boxing from the age of 14. Competition boxing is also possible from the age of 14. Training begins in the youth group.
Do boys and girls train separately?+
No. Training sessions are mixed. However, there are separate changing rooms. The trainer ensures that training takes place in a safe and respectful environment.
When and how can you compete in matches?+
VBSK Albert Cuyp is affiliated with the Dutch Boxing Federation. If you would like to compete, you should first discuss this with your trainer. The trainer will assess whether you are ready. If so, the club can apply for a competition licence on your behalf; the costs will be passed on.
